Is Your Church Encouraging a Healthy Pastor?
The New York Times recently carried a significant article on the issue of clergy health. It is a topic worthy of honest conversation in a Session meeting.  Please click here New York Times for more information.  We live in unique times and the health of pastors is bearing the brunt of this transitional time in a very difficult fashion. Grapple with the issue.  As your pastor is healthy there is an increased likelihood of growing health in your congregation.

Invitation to Serve on a General Assembly Commission

One of the many actions taken this summer at General Assembly was the creation of a rather unique commission.  The commission has been given authority to work with Presbyteries and Synods as they may want to re-draw boundaries.  The commission could make decisions without waiting until the next General Assembly gathering in 2012.  Initially this commission would likely have little work (or no work) in the eastern part of the country due to the fact that presbyteries tend to be larger in the east; however, they will be busy with conversations in the west.  If you might have a desire to serve on a commission in such a capacity you would be encouraged to click on the following link to access the application form for membership on the General Assembly Special Commission - GA Commission

Equipping Pastors Opportunities

The presbyteries of Western Pennsylvania have scheduled four overnight events in 2010 at Camp Crestfield to Equip Pastors for effective service.  This is a wonderful opportunity to attend a quality event close to home, learn from your colleagues and prepare for service in your ministry.  The next event, "Missional Stewardship", will be held September 9-10, 2010 and the last event, "Missional Engagement", will be held November 18-19, 2010.  The information has been mailed to pastors and is available by clicking here:  Equipping Pastors Leadership Training Events   Overnight accommodations are limited to 50 participants, so register early by sending your completed registration form and payment to the Beaver-Butler Presbytery Office.  Ministers may register for all four sessions at one time, or each as the time draws closer.  The cost is $40 per event.  It is anticipated that we will have a waiting list, so you do run the risk of missing out, if you wait to register.  If you find out after registering that you are unable to attend, please call the Beaver-Butler office ASAP so that the space can be filled.   Any questions, please don't hesitate to call Beaver-Butler Presbytery Office: 724-452-7515 or e-mail to office@beaverbutler.orgThe deadline for registering is Friday, September 3.

Is Your Church Interested in Saving Money??

Well, of course you are interested in saving money!  If so, check out the information about an electricity consortium that the Synod of the Trinity is offering to churches.  Most of us know that electric bills will be rising dramatically this year.  This can be one way to realize some savings but it will take wise reflection on the part of your church leaders.  Click here - Creating A Consortium and here Electricity Consoritium to find information about this opportunity from the Synod of the Trinity.  If you have further questions please contact Synod Treasurer Chantal Atnip at treasurer@syntrinity.org.
