
Tim grew up in Omaha, Nebraska in the ethnic areas of South Omaha. In high school and college, Tim was active in urban feeding and housing ministry, preaching, and teaching ministry. He earned a BA in Anthropology, Religion/Philosophy, and Humanities at the University of Northern Iowa and a Specialist in Education (Masters) in School Psychology-Educational Psychology in 1989. Tim was a School Psychologist in South Dakota for 11 public schools and three tribal schools for 10 years and in Sioux City Iowa for 1 year. He taught college classes in Psychology, Special Education, Religion, and Ethics in South Dakota at a Tribal College and for South Dakota State and in Iowa for Buena Vista University and Iowa Lakes Community College. Tim has been a Sunday school teacher, a member of legal and property council for two presbyteries, a Christian Camp director for both Episcopal and later Presbyterian camps, a COM moderator in Iowa and here for Lake Erie Presbytery, a clerk of session in South Dakota, and a youth ministry consultant for an Episcopal diocese. Tim was a CRE in South Dakota for 2 rural churches prior to going to seminary at the United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities, ordained as a PC(USA) pastor in 2009 by the Presbytery of South Dakota. Tim has pastored PC(USA), UCC and ELCA churches in South Dakota both on and off the reservation and in Iowa before coming to Oil City Second in 2019. He earned a Doctorate of Ministry in 2018 from Dubuque Seminary. Tim’s wife Heather is a teacher and an ordained Deacon who has a vital ministry herself among kids and families. Tim and Heather have 4 adult children: Shawn (29) who is also a PC(USA) pastor working in Rome, Italy; Luke (26) also a Ruling Elder and Deacon who keeps the world delivered working at FedEx; James (24) who has been most recently a candy shop owner and is currently a sexton at a local Baptist Church; and Hannah (20) who loves animals and keeps us sane by cooking at home.
