Rev. Greg Gillispie is Stated Clerk of Lake Erie Presbytery. In this role since April, 2015, he oversees official presbytery minutes and records; handles certain official communications; and serves as parliamentary adviser to the presbytery, its pastors and its local sessions. He serves part-time in this role.
Greg also is the pastor with the people of First United Presbyterian Church in Edinboro. His ministry interests include preaching and teaching, discerning “next steps” toward God’s future, and leadership development and spiritual growth. He is grateful for the many opportunities he has had being present as someone discovers an “aha” moment drawing them closer to the Lord.
He earned a Master of Divinity degree from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Kentucky. He was ordained by Homestead Presbytery in Nebraska, August 27, 1995, at the church where he grew up, First Presbyterian in Beatrice. He has pastored congregations at North Carolina, Georgia and Pennsylvania. He also has been a leader for presbytery-level ministries of youth church camp, officer orientation days and coordinating teams. As a regional workshop leader, he teaches topics such as church vitality, how to discover best practices for future mission, and cross-generational ministry.
Ordained ministry is a second career for Greg. After college at Northwest Missouri State, he worked 13 years as a radio broadcaster. He and his wife Marcia have two college-age sons.
